What?

April 2011 issue of Entertainment Weekly
Featuring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon

What an odd combination. Even odder is their wholly unbelievable rapport and grinning at the camera. We realize we tend to be slightly more cynical than the average EW reader, but the almost too-precious pictures coupled with the LOL-worthy publicist-drafted sound-bites had us rolling our eyes and laughing at the same time (which hurts a little; no one tells you that). Are they serious with that cover? Reese doing her best Nancy Reagan to Pattinson's Ronnie? And we're supposed to believe they adore each other? And it's only a coincidence that they have a movie to flog?

Rob on Reese:
“There’s something about her. She’s just this genuinely nice person. I don’t know if she puts an effort into creating a nice aura, but her mood dissipates over the whole set. It was a completely different environment from when she wasn’t there. All the kids and the animals were just drawn to her. It made it incredibly easy to do my part - all my reaction shots are just watching her work brilliantly. She’s really cool and she’s just…never, ever annoying. God, that’s the worst description, isn’t it?”

Reese on Rob:
“He’s an incredibly hardworking person with an incredible work ethic. He doesn’t ever complain. Not once. Which is sort of lower than the national average for actors. They’re always complaining. Especially the men!”

Blogger, please.

Could you imagine if you were paired off with some co-worker you can barely tolerate in order to get some sort of project done and when it was over, you were forced to pose for pictures and announce to everyone how much you adore each other and how much you learned from each other? Wouldn't that be weird? "I just want to say that working with Bob these 3 months on the Consolidated Widget financials has taught me so much as an employee of this company -- and as a woman. He's just so incredibly genuine!"

Why does the public need to believe that these temporary co-workers become soul mates for the 2 or 3 months they worked together? Wouldn't it be awesome if, just once during these "go see my movie" press junkets, the stars would say "Yeah, we couldn't stand the sight of each other but you can hardly tell when you watch us kiss?"
That would actually make us want to see the movie.

Anyway, just to bring this back to the real world for a second, we really like that Jenny Packham dress on her.
